While the winter of the energy crisis has arrived on our doorsteps, in the region and in Europe as well; measures need to be taken with the aim of coping with this situation, which apparently will last quite a while. Citizens too, must also do their part, to act and respect the advices given by the relevant institutions and experts in the field.
In order to make citizens aware of saving energy in the country; an education and awareness campaign: “You are the Energy Hero!”, has been launched in the schools of Tirana targeting the students, since they can be the most sincere and reliable advocates in their family, of saving tips. TV spot, where the messages is clear: Energy has never been more important than today! , is being distributed in all visual and social media with the aim of raising the awareness of every Albanian family.
Each of our actions in saving energy brings a big impact, providing more electricity for the days and months to come. All together, we can save energy! We must do it not only for ourselves, for the home economy, but also for the good of Albania! Every watt that saved by us, is worth it, especially in our electric bill – where the government will cover the high price of imported energy in the market for Albanian families and small businesses.
While in Germany the price that the families have to pay has increased by 19%, in Italy by 83%, in Spain by 126% or even in Greece by 112% more, in Albania, for all consumers who will respect the savings measure , the band of 800 kilowatts/hour of expenditure per month, the price will not increase. For those, in any case, with great ambition and courage, these costs will be covered by the state, even though the energy prices that are purchased today in the market, are 10 times more expensive compared to previous years.
Albania needs to import because 70% of the energy produced in the country provided by KESH and 30% provided by private producers can cover only 60% of the annual needs. The rest, must be covered by imports. In addition to high prices, today the energy markets are characterized by large fluctuations and uncertainties, which are caused not only by natural factors but also by all the speculations that the war in Ukraine is bringing forth. From 300 euros/Mwh to 600 euros/Mwh, the prices have moved from day to day.
Only in the first 8 months of this year, KESH has spent 350 million euros, in order to keep unchanged the price that citizens have to pay…. and will continue to do so. On the other hand, the citizens must also carry out their mission, in facing this crisis: the significant reduction of energy consumption in their homes and businesses. By not exceeding the band of 800 kilowatts/hour of expenditure per month.
Until then, we must do everything we can: save energy, to have it! Every day, turning off the lights when we leave the house, using the washing machine at night after we have filled it full of clothes, setting the air conditioner to the optimal temperature, leaving the temperature of the boiler at 50 degrees Celsius… They seem small actions, but with big impact
